SD-WAN Services
One network for every site, managed end to end
SmartCS designs, deploys and manages Software-Defined WAN so your offices, branches, cloud apps and remote teams run on a network that's faster, more resilient and easier to control, without the cost and rigidity of traditional MPLS.
Why SD-WAN
Your apps moved to the cloud. Your WAN should too.
Traditional WANs were built when everything lived in one data centre. Today your team relies on Microsoft 365, cloud ERPs, VoIP and video calls, and backhauling all of that through a central site adds latency, cost and a single point of failure.
SD-WAN puts an intelligent software layer over the connections you already have, such as fibre, cable, LTE/5G or MPLS. It continuously measures each link and steers every application down the best path in real time. If a circuit degrades or drops, traffic fails over automatically and your users never notice.
The result: better performance for the applications that matter, lower connectivity costs, and one central console to manage policy and security across every location.
What's included
A complete SD-WAN service, not just a box
Assessment & design
We audit your sites, circuits, applications and traffic patterns, then design a topology and policy set that fits how your business actually works.
Deployment & migration
Zero-touch provisioning, staged cut-overs and after-hours changes, so branches come online with minimal disruption to your team.
Application-aware routing
Voice, video and business-critical apps get priority and the cleanest path; backups and updates use spare capacity.
Integrated security
Next-gen firewalling, encrypted tunnels, segmentation and secure internet breakout at every site, with a path to SASE when you're ready.
24/7 monitoring
Our team watches link health, latency, jitter and packet loss around the clock and acts on issues, often before you'd notice them.
Ongoing management
Policy changes, firmware updates, carrier coordination and regular reporting, all handled through one point of contact.
Business outcomes
What changes for your organization
SD-WAN is a network upgrade, but the benefits show up across the business: in your users' experience, your monthly bills and your IT team's workload.
- Higher uptime. Multiple active links with automatic, sub-second failover keep sites connected when a circuit goes down.
- Better app performance. Direct, optimized access to cloud and SaaS apps instead of hairpinning through head office.
- Lower connectivity costs. Use affordable broadband alongside, or in place of, expensive private circuits.
- Faster new sites. Open a branch, pop-up or field office in days rather than waiting weeks for a dedicated line.
- Central visibility. One dashboard for every location, link and application, with policies applied consistently everywhere.
- Stronger security. Encryption and segmentation by default, and security policy that travels with your network.
At a glance
Traditional WAN vs. SD-WAN
| Traditional WAN / MPLS | SD-WAN with SmartCS | |
|---|---|---|
| Connectivity | Single private circuit per site | Any mix of fibre, broadband, LTE/5G and MPLS, all used actively |
| Cloud access | Backhauled through the data centre | Direct, policy-controlled internet breakout |
| Failover | Manual or slow, often a backup that sits idle | Automatic, per application, in real time |
| Management | Box-by-box configuration | Centralized policy and zero-touch provisioning |
| Cost to scale | High, with long lead times | Lower, with new sites live in days |
How we work
From assessment to always-on in four steps
Discover
We map your sites, circuits, applications and pain points, and set clear performance and budget goals.
Design
We recommend the right platform, link mix and policies, with a costed plan and a migration roadmap.
Deploy
We pilot at one site, validate, then roll out in stages with rollback plans and minimal downtime.
Manage
We monitor 24/7, tune policies as your needs change and report on performance and availability.
FAQ
Common questions
Do we need to replace our existing internet circuits?
Usually not. SD-WAN works over the connections you already have. During the assessment we'll tell you whether adding a second link or changing providers would meaningfully improve resilience or cost.
Can SD-WAN replace MPLS entirely?
For many organizations, yes. Others keep MPLS for specific workloads and add broadband alongside it. We'll recommend the mix that meets your performance needs at the right price.
How long does a rollout take?
It depends on the number of sites and circuit lead times. A pilot site is often live within a few weeks of design sign-off, and additional sites follow on a schedule we agree together.
Is SD-WAN secure?
Traffic between sites is encrypted, and modern SD-WAN platforms include firewalling and segmentation. We configure these to your security requirements and can integrate with our SIEM and security management services.
Is SD-WAN only for large enterprises?
No. Any organization with two or more locations, heavy cloud usage or a need for reliable connectivity can benefit, including small and mid-sized businesses.
Ready for a faster, more reliable network?
Tell us about your sites and applications. We'll assess your current WAN and show you what SD-WAN could do for your organization.
